Encore 2020-2021 Auditions
This year, Encore auditions will be held online through video submissions. Please read all the instructions carefully to make sure you are aware of how to turn in all items and when certain things are due. Instructions for auditioning for Encore 2020-2021 may be found below.
1. Complete the Student Audition Form and ask your parent/guardian to complete the Parent Form by Friday, May 8.
2. 1 minute Singing/ 15 second Beatboxing due by Monday, May 11 at 4:30pm. (You can complete prior to this date)
- Using your laptop or your phone, record an unedited video of yourself singing one minute of a pop song without a backing track or accompaniment. You will also perform a sample of your beatboxing (vocal percussion) abilities (this will be required of each auditionee).
- Introduce yourself: “My name is….”
- Introduce your song: “I will be singing ___ by ___”
- Sing one minute of your song.
- Demonstrate your beatboxing for 15 seconds. Show us what you can do!
- When you have completed recording the singing/beatboxing portion of your audition, submit your recording using the Google form below.
3. Ear Training Video will be due Monday, May 11. You will have one hour to complete from 3pm-4pm.
- On May 11, 3pm, the ear-training video will be available above for one hour (3pm-4pm). During this period, you will record an unedited video of yourself completing the ear-training exercises.
- Setup your laptop camera or position your phone camera to record you.
- Select the appropriate ear training video for your voice part. (Treble or Tenor/Bass)
- Start the ear-training video.
- Follow the prompts on the ear-training video
- You will need headphones.
- When the ear-training video is completed, submit your recording using the Google form below.
Callbacks will be announced May 11 at 8pm.
4. Music Learning portion of the Callbacks will be due Tuesday, May 12. You will have one hour to complete from 3pm-4pm.
- On May 12, 3pm, the music and practice tracks for callbacks will be released HERE for one hour.
- Use the time to a) learn the music and b) record an unedited video of yourself performing your part. We will be looking for students who are able to learn music quickly and perform confidently at a high level in a short amount of time.
- When the sheet music and tracks are released, practice the voice part you have been called back for.
- When you are ready to perform, setup your laptop camera or position your phone camera to record you. Make sure you have headphones.
- Select the Encore Callbacks: Recording Instruction & Recording Track for Music Learning Video that will be found HERE.
- Follow the prompts on the video
- The video will give you your starting pitch and 8 clicks to set tempo.
- Perform your own part in the music.
- When you have completed recording the music learning portion, submit your recording using the Google form below.
5. Choreography portion of the Callbacks will be due Tuesday May 12. You will have one hour to complete from 4pm-5pm.
- On May 12, 4pm, the choreography practice video for callbacks will be released HERE for one hour.
- Use the time to a) learn the choreography, and b) record an unedited video of yourself performing your part. We will be looking for singers who can learn movement and perform confidently at a high level in a short amount of time.
- When you are ready to perform, setup your laptop camera or position your phone camera to record you.
- Select the Encore choreography video that will be found HERE
- Record yourself performing the choreography.
- When you have completed recording the choreography portion, submit your recording using the Google form below
