ALL-STATE CHOIR AUDITIONS!
Choir Camp, General Info, Music, etc. AUDITION Your very first major assignment as a member of a Varsity Level Ensemble is the requirement of learning the music and auditioning for the District level of the All-State Choir.*** If you are going to be a member of Bel Canto, Cantoras, or Men’s Choir we also hope that you will choose to participate in this process…. the only difference is that it is not a graded requirement for you. That being said, the District Audition is the first of four auditions on the road to the highly regarded Texas All-State Choir. Please understand that the music is difficult (collegiate level) and you will need to put time and energy into learning these pieces. We absolutely recommend attending a Choir Camp, working with a voice teacher over the summer, and practicing on your own time as much as possible BEFORE school starts in August! Bella Voce and Chorale It is a requirement that you participate in this audition. You are a part of a VARSITY LEVEL ensemble… and the fact that you will even be ATTEMPTING to learn and master this music is going to make you a stronger and better musician! This is college level material. Your skills are going to drastically improve as you work your way through it. Mock auditions will be held the FIRST week of September! Please do not wait until school starts to look at this music! CHOIR CAMP The best way to learn your District music is by attending a Choir Camp over the summer! It’s a great time to meet new people from all over the state and the great part - you will KNOW your audition music by the time school starts in the fall! There are camps in June, July, and August – all over the state - all price ranges! So, get your friends together, pick one, and go to Choir Camp! *** Please see the list below for Choir Camp opportunities. MUSIC If you would like to begin working on your audition music early, OR you do NOT plan to attend a camp this summer – please visit https://www.jwpepper.com/Texas-All-State-2019---Large-School-Packet/10881104.item#/submit and choose either the Men’s or the Women’s music packet. The packets will be available for purchase May 1, with delivery beginning June 1. You can place your order and have it shipped directly to your house. (Please check with your selected all state camp if a packet will be provided.) We also HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you purchase a copy of “Another 90 Days to Sight-Reading Success!” This book is absolutely incredible when working on the sight-reading aspect of your audition!!! *** If you are going to be a sophomore in Bella Voce next year – you have the option of auditioning for the 9th and 10th Grade Treble Honor Choir instead of (or in addition to) the District audition. The music for the Honor Choir audition is more accessible. If you would rather do Honor Choir, you may disregard the All-State information in this letter. You will receive more information on this once school starts in August.
